Villard Reculas

Chalet GABBRO
A four star self-catering chalet

Villard Reculas

Linked in to the vast Alpe d’Huez ski area, Villard Reculas remains a small, authentic but modern, alpine village.  It offers the perfect base, in both summer and winter, for those who, after an active day, want to relax in beautiful, peaceful surroundings.

Restaurants

Although small, Villard Reculas has restaurants offering a range of cuisine, from bar snacks and pizza to local fare to the Michelin Guide listed “Bonsoir Clara”.  Also nearby is the excellent La Bergerie, situated on the piste at the bottom of the Le Villarais lift, but which can also be walked to.

Each tends to be busy in season and we would advise pre-booking.  Details are available in the downloadable chalet file or on the Villard Reculas website (see links).

Shopping

Villard Reculas has a small, but well-stocked Casino supermarket which offers most of the essentials for self-catering.

A much larger, and new, Casino is in Bourg D’Oisans, a 20 minute drive from Villard.  It offers a superb selection of fresh and regional produce.  As one would expect of a French supermarket, they have a good selection of wines.

Skiing

Within the row of shops in Villard are the Tourist Office where ski passes can be obtained, the village ESF (see winter page), and Le P’tit Pingouin - the ski hire shop.  The shop is owned and run by Avril who manages GABBRO.  He offers 20% discount on equipment hire to those staying in GABBRO.

Access to the Slopes.   GABBRO is situated about a 100m walk from the nearest piste with access to the Cloudit button lift.  (You need a lift pass for this lift).  An alternative is a short drive through the village to the funitel adjacent to a large car park.  The funitel takes you to the bottom of the Le Villarais chair lift where you will also need a pass.
